Takes one shot against Belgium
Taremi registered one shot (one on goal) and two chances created in Sunday's 0-0 draw versus Belgium.
Analysis: Taremi had one opportunity inside the box, but his attempt was stopped by Thibaut Courtois. Other than that, the Olympiacos striker stood out as one of two Iran players with multiple chances created during the game. Despite his consistent presence in the No. 9 role, Taremi has been denied a goal contribution over the first two group-stage matches. Despite that fact, he could be the squad's main threat against a vulnerable Egypt defense.
Kept in check in World Cup opener
Tarmei took two shots (zero on goal), created one chance, and sent in one cross in Monday's 2-2 draw with New Zealand. He also suffered one foul in 80 minutes of action.
Analysis: Taremi was the focal point of Iran's attack throughout an open and fast-paced match in which Iran recorded 17 shots. Although Taremi did not score or provide an official assist, his link-up play, movement, and ability to occupy defenders were important to Iran's attacking structure. As New Zealand concentrated defensive attention on the Iranian captain, teammates Ramin Rezaeian and Mohammad Mohebi found space to score the goals that rescued a point for Iran. After scoring twice in the 2022 World Cup, Taremi will look to get off the mark against Belgium on Sunday, June 21.
