Extends strong momentum
Araujo scored one goal and assisted once from two shots and three chances created in Sunday's 2-2 draw against Cape Verde.
Analysis: Araujo delivered a solid performance in the second World Cup game, as he scored through a diving header in the 44th minute and created the chance for Agustin Canobbio to double Uruguay's count during first-half stoppage time. Although his team remains without a victory, the Sporting CP player has had an excellent start to the tournament, tallying two goals and one assist across two appearances. Additionally, he has taken corner kicks from both flanks, gaining even more value in the absence of Giorgian De Arrascaeta (calf). Such run of form makes Araujo one of the most interesting players of the Uruguayan squad ahead of their toughest group-stage challenge versus Spain.
Scores late equalizer
Araujo scored one goal to go with two shots (two on goal), six crosses (five accurate) and four corners in Monday's 1-1 draw against Saudi Arabia.
Analysis: Araujo was one of the most dangerous players for Uruguay in this game, both due to his set-piece role but also thanks to his constant runs on the left wing. Araujo was rewarded when he scored the equalizer for Los Charruas following a rebound off Mohammed Al-Owais. Araujo should remain in the starting lineup when Uruguay take on Cape Verde on Sunday.
